Week 4: Recipe 4 The Green Shake Challenge

photo

My mom has a very whimsical sense of gardening. It's not unusual to find a head of red leaf lettuce, lavender, marigolds and a zucchini plant all sharing residence in the same planter. It's not by chance that these various forms of vegetation find themselves coexisting, its mom's version of random gardening. According to mom, the fun of gardening is not so much what grows but where it grows.

As I pulled into my parent's driveway Easter morning I was not surprised when my boyfriend asked "are those Peeps on bamboo skewers sticking out of the hanging flower pots alongside the garage?" I just shook my head and sighed "of course".

A week later I stopped by my folks house and was genuinely surprised to still see the Peeps in the flower pots completely untouched. I walked into their house proclaiming even the animals know there is no nutritional value in those things outside.

I dedicate this week's green shake recipe to the intelligence of animals everywhere, we have a lot to learn from you.
